On June 24, 2005 the *Catholic Information Service for Africa* reported, "The civil society in Kenya is urging people to participate in an interfaith march geared seeking immediate cancellation of debts and campaigning for transparent and accountable governance in African countries.

The Interfaith and Civil Society Organization Campaign to End Global Poverty will be held on July 2, 2005 at Nairobi's Uhuru Park grounds.

'This event will present a historic opportunity for all those who wish to express solidarity with people all over the world caught in the cycle of poverty,' read a statement delivered to CISA. The march is organized by the Kenyan Global Call of Action Against Poverty (GCAP). Participants are asked to wear a white band.

Christian, Muslim, Hindu, and Baha'i communities will join Non Governmental Organizations, trade unions, and the civil society to demand poverty eradication by both national and global leaders."
