On July 6, 2001, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that "more than 5,000 Muslims...are gathering in Clevelandforthe opening today of the annual meeting of the Islamic Circle of NorthAmerica.This is the first time a national Muslim group has held a convention in thecity." It is part of the Muslim entrance into the American public arena.
